Welcome...

I shop all too often considering I despise mail from Mastercard. I sip from fine china that is far older than the Queen. I daydream of a closet filled with Chanel. AND... If that all wasn't enough for the mind, I am a brand new mother of a baby girl, who at 4 months preferred gazing at my Wedding Ring than her plush toys.

Christmas Advent Calendar for $25!!!

I am not going to lie, if I could speed things up and even by-pass Halloween I would, just to get to the Holiday Season faster. Christmas Music is playing even in my car come November 1st, I just can't get enough to the guy in the big red suit. Shhht don't tell Sammy! Say this and thought oh wow what a fun DIY, then I saw the price and thought you know what I probably couldn't make it that cheap, what a fabulous deal. Thought it was such a great deal I posted it for you all to see, and buy if you'd like too!

BUY IT HERE for $25 plus shipping {$5 to the US and $10 to Canada} with the deal ending Thursday, November 3rd, 2011.

This post is short and sweet, however I just wanted to make sure I kept you "in the loop" of the fabulous deal I found. I mean really what type of friend would I be if I didn't?

I just love this girl!

I mean really.... can any mother get "enough" of their children? I could take pictures of her all day long {which I do}, I could bite her cheeks each and every time I see her {which I do}, and I could kiss her until I go red in the face {which I do}. So this is what they mean when they say you have never loved until you have a child.

I now... understand!

Some exciting news that I want to add is that I joined a Zumba Class. I did enough research for local studio's and found one that I am very fond of. The instructor and owner is beyond fabulous, super personable, priced fairly, and absolutely stunning. She has done a brilliant job getting her body in perfect shape after 3 children and to me that shows determination and strength beyond words. To me this is someone I can respect and trust and therefore I trust in her to Shimmy and Shake my ass back into shape, getting this baby belly of mine to be none existent. My first class won't be until November 4th - but stay tuned for my thoughts of the whole Zumba Fever!

DIY Safety Pin Necklace

Had a little fun over the weekend - while Sofia napped I threaded beads on some Safety Pins. I knew I wanted to do a spin off this DIY that I saw, something I would get more use out of. So I knew it would have to have a bow and a little softer in feel. Pretty impressed considering it costed me $2 for the Beads, $2 for the Safety Pins and $0 for the Old T-Shirt I ripped up and used for the Braided Necklace and Bow.

What do you think? Anyone else want to try their take on the DIY Hardcore Necklace? If you do, let me know, I'd love to see what you come up with.

Creamy Lemon Crumb Squares

I know I have one thing in common with Christy from "The Girl who Ate Everything"... and based on my weekly post of trying to loose some extra pounds, I think you might have a good idea too. I found Christy thanks to Pinterest, stumbled across one of her recipes that caught my eye {and tummy} and couldn't help but make it yesterday afternoon.

So here she is, the squares that no longer exist in my house thanks to a sweet tooth and getting up 3 times in the night to pump. Their is nothing like a little Lemon Square to coax yourself to wake up and take care of business.
Sorry for the lack of photo's this time around but after seeing the image that Christy put on her Blog I didn't want to prolong the wait for the lemon square to be in my belly.

Creamy Lemon Crumb Squares

1 ⅓ cup Flour
½ tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 cup Butter {slightly softened}
1 cup Brown Sugar {lightly packed}
1 cup Oats
14 Ounces Sweetened Condensed Milk
½ Cup Lemon Juice
zest of 1 Lemon

* Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
* Mix butter and brown sugar until well combined.
* Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.
* Add oats and flour to butter/sugar mixture and mix to combine.
* Press half of oat crumb mixture into the bottom of an 8 x 11 inch pan. Me.... I don't listen to instructions well, so I used my 8 x 8 pan.
* Mix together condensed milk, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Spread onto the bottom layer of the crumb mixture. The other half of the crumb mixture mix spread, sprinkle onto of the 2 layers and DON'T press down.
* Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
* Allow pan to sit on counter for 30 minutes after baking. Cut into squares and refrigerate for a couple of hours or until cool.
* Serve cool. Makes around one dozen.

Sofia's 1st Month of Life

My baby girl has turned 5 weeks today and in celebration I thought I would share with you all her Milestone pictures that I have taken through her weeks of life. I think they are pretty darn funny, but then again I'm a geek like that.

Did any of you Mama's take silly photo's like this? If so do share, I'd love to see them!

Failed - I'm not even going to beat around the bush on this one, I just didn't do it. If I was allowing myself excuses... WHICH IM NOT... But of course I'm not allowing myself this luxury of getting away with it - so simply, I FAILED!

Other uses for a Breast Pad

Myself, along with a few ladies {thank you Shanalisa and Andrea} have found a few NEW uses for Breast Pads... You know, just giving you ladies options!

1) Baby Spitt-Up Cloth {I mean really, does it really matter that your going to put it back in your Bra.... that is where the spit up came from}

2) Beverage Coaster {Just think you can go anywhere and always be the polite one, by whipping out your nipple pillow and using it on their designer coffee table}

3) Breast Enlargements {After baby asks for the boob and its obvious you're done with breast feeding, your luscious breasts will go back to their saggy self, and you can use the pads to pad your Bra - go ahead, use 3 or 4 per cup, don't worry, I wont judge!}

4) Reusable Kleenex {sleepless nights, a screaming baby and a continual period, perfect on the move kleenex to wipe the tears away and tuck away for a later "why me" out-burst}

Tell me have I missed any? Have you used the nipple pillows for something far from wet t-shirt contest starters... Let us know - I want to keep this list going because I think their are a lot more multi-purposes for them!

Battle Baby Bulge: Week 2 & Week 1 Review

So it's our first weeks Review of Battle Baby Bulge and here's to hoping that all the late night chocolate chip granola bars I snacked on didn't put me in the red. Common tell me what is a quicker snack at midnight, 3am and 6am when I am pumping. Please, please tell me!

So now to change the subject so that you don't give me crap for almost eating a box of 40 granola bars this week... Look Look Look over here, a deer.... on no I mean a funny comparison between Child Birth and Weight Loss! You're going to just love this:

  • Lots of screaming, crying and cussing along the way.
  • It’s a process that feels like is never going to end.
  • There’s a voice telling you “Push! Push!”
  • Doctors think they have all the answers, but people have been doing it without them for centuries.
  • You’ll soon have a bunch of clothes that are too big for you.
  • There are a million books on the subject.
  • It was more fun to get in the situation you’re in than to get out of it.
  • Spouse thinks they know what you’re going through but they don’t.
  • It helps if you’ve got someone there to lend you support.
  • Drugs are optional.
  • If you’re healthy, there’s no reason you can’t do it.
  • There’s quite a bit of labor involved.
  • It’s probably the most important thing you’ll ever do.
  • It’s hard to explain to your kids.
  • It’s a real pain in the bottom.
  • If all goes well, a brand new life emerges.

If you love these and think your life could use a little humor in it, you must follow Jack Sh*t Getting Fit's Blog. He is beyond funny and keeps me giggling even at my 3am pump. Now that's impressive considering I am not a morning person. Here check Jack Sh*t out for yourself here.

Week 1 REVIEW

GOAL | walk 5km in 1 week
September 30th to October 6th: Walked 5.58km taking me 1 hour and 18 minutes

Friday, September 30th: Walked/Ran 1.90km taking me 23 minutes and 5 seconds
Sunday, October 2nd: Walked 1.0km taking me 15 minutes and 22 seconds
Wednesday, October 5th: Walked 1.34km taking me 20 minutes and 10 seconds
Thursday, October 6th: Walked 1.34km taking me 19 minutes and 15 seconds

WEIGHT | 197.4lbs on September 30th
October 7th: 196.2lbs
Weight Loss = 1.2lbs

MEASUREMENTS | Waist 36" and Hips 47" on September 30th

October 7th: Waist 36" and Hips 46"
Inches Lost: 1.0"

Weight Loss and Inches Lost - I'd say I am going in the right direction. Happy with the direction we are taking however I am not going to lie I was hoping for a 1st week weigh-in like The Biggest Losers first week weigh in's. I'm guessing that isn't going to happen until I find Bob Harper on my door step. Until then, 1.2lbs and 1.0" lose is fantastic, at this rate I'll be at my goal in  less than 40 weeks.

Kait and I made our next goals for this week and we decided to keep the 5km walking/running deal however adding 2 more. Go BIG or go HOME right? We will add drinking at least 8 Glasses of Water a day and make and post about 1 Vegetarian Meal made this upcoming week. So onto the next week we go, here's to hoping another lose will be in line for next week.

This is what success looks like...

{sleep is a beautiful thing, especially when they go down smiling}

Sofia is really learning that a routine, is actually a good thing. Her Mummy and Daddy had a scheduled life far before she ever was a dream. The past 2 weeks have been anything but planned, or a dream for that matter... and as much as Sammy and I are doing our best in learning all of Sofia's quirks we are really enjoying days like today where success can be seen.

Thanks to a suggestion from my sister and cousin, we watched a few old video's from The Oprah Show and The View when Dr. Karp was featured, the man who wrote the book "The Happiest Baby on the Block". We learnt his 5 S's for soothing your baby and they worked like a charm. They worked the moment we tried them, it was like magic.

So I think It's only fair that I owe Dr. Karp my first born - then again now that she is such a pleasure, I'd rather keep her. I promise I'll give you my second... I'm sure he/she will be just as cute! But after the sleepless nights a emotional whirlwind that we have gone through the past 3 weeks, my guess is that Sofia Marie just might be an only child.

REVIEW: You! Lingerie Maternity Lingerie

Stylish... Playful... Affordable Luxury! For the Fashionista Mommy in YOU!

I'd say I'm extremely lucky. Not only do I get a baby girl for being pregnant for almost and entire YEAR but I get to review Sassy Maternity Lingerie too. Maybe my husband is a wee bit lucky too considering, but let's not let him catch on to this. I was asked to choose 2 pieces from the You! Lingerie Collection of Sexy Maternity Bra's and Underwear. Naturally I had a tough time choosing, as I wanted them all. What women ever has enough Lingerie, right? I thought I could use some help, so I brought my husband in on the fun, letting him choose the underwear while my heart was already set on a particular Bra.

Sourcing out help from the hubby, I ended up with 2 pieces from 2 different Collections. However still matching I'd say we are still meant to be, couples who choose Lingerie together, stay together? Isn't that how the saying goes?

  {when your options include the above... how could it not be difficult to choose?}

{Please note all photos above are from the You! Lingerie Website}

The Bra I chose was the Rumi Noir, Classic Sexy Elegance, and the underwear that my husband chose were the Berry Monroe, Pure MEOW. In most cases, when I buy a bra that is as cute as it is sexy, I am usually ready to give up on something else up, like comfort or quality. Expecting the same situation from You! Lingerie, I had a little thought in the back of my mind that maybe, just maybe this time would be different. Once they arrived at my door I could not WAIT to get my hands on them. Out of the box they came and I couldn't be more surprised! They did not disappoint on any level, sex appeal, comfort or quality.

{My photo's of the Rumi Noir Bra - Buy it for $49.99 here}

{My photos of the Pure MEOW Underwear - Buy them for $24.99 here}

The photos I took don't do either the Bra or Underwear justice. The colors are brilliant, the materials used on both are luxurious and the quality in finish is out of this world. One piece of advice that a Mama gave me about undergarments during and after baby was "make sure its comfortable" and "whatever you do, forgo the lace, beautiful yes, but you nipples will thank you later". You! Lingerie obviously got this advice as well, they had lace for the beauty, but using it in all the right places, no comfort is ever sacrificed when wearing it.

The prices of all the You! Lingerie Collections still blow my mind. Bra's at $50 and Underwear all around $25, I don't know of any Lingerie Store that for $75 you can purchase both the Bra and Underwear at this high quality. I really don't! I'd have to say the underwear maybe my favorite. I could easily get obsessed with their underwear collections and I just may need one of each pair. The material is beyond comfortable and let's be honest since when can you use sexy and comfort in the same sentence. You just don't, it's like saying Mary-Kate is hotter than Ashley Olsen. Common people - that's crazy talk!

Bottom Line You! Lingerie is not only Stylish, Playful and Affordable, but Comfortable, Sexy and an easy obsession for all Mama's out there wanting to feel themselves again during and after your Baby is born. I can't tell one enough just how amazing You! Lingerie's Collections can help you feel. It's not everyday a women can add 20lbs to the scale reading and still feel beautiful! Thanks to You! Lingerie, I did!
